Food and wine tour: from Polesano Melon to Bianchetto Truffle

Polesine is a land of extraordinary products. Each season brings something new to the table. Here’s an ideal tour to discover them all.

Spring: asparagus

The white asparagus from Cologna Veneta is a delight. Tender, delicate, to be eaten with hard-boiled eggs or in pasta. Local producers open their doors for visits and tastings.

Summer: the Polesano melon

From July to September, market stalls fill with melons. The Polesano PGI is very sweet, fragrant, perfect with prosciutto. But even alone, chilled, it’s a perfect snack.

Autumn: the bianchetto truffle

Few people know it, but truffle can be found in Polesine. The bianchetto, less famous than Alba white truffle, is still extraordinary. Grated over tagliatelle or scrambled eggs.

Winter: radicchio

Chioggia radicchio is the king of winter. Crunchy, slightly bitter, perfect in salad or grilled. And just a few kilometers away there’s also the red radicchio from Treviso.
