Nature and Delta

Nature photography: capturing the Delta in every season

The Po Delta is a paradise for photographers. Ever-changing lights, landscapes that change with the seasons, incredible wildlife. Here’s what we’ve learned in years of shooting (and mistakes).

The light of the Delta

Fog, humidity, water everywhere: the light here is unique. Soft, diffused, perfect for photos. Dawn and sunset are the magical moments, but even cloudy days offer incredible atmospheres.

Season by season

Spring: colors are at their peak, migratory birds return. Bring a telephoto lens.

Summer: fiery sunsets, but intense heat. Go early in the morning.

Autumn: fog, warm colors, melancholic atmospheres. The most photogenic period.

Winter: low lights, essential landscapes. Few tourists, lots of peace.

Our favorite spots

The Gorino lighthouse at dawn. The embankments along the Po di Maistra. The Sacca di Scardovari with the casoni. The Comacchio salt pans with the flamingos.

Every corner is a photo. But the most beautiful ones are those you don’t expect.

Practical tips

Bring rubber boots. Water is everywhere. And a cloth for the lens: humidity fogs everything. But it’s part of the game.
